Window Seat- Ms. Badu
Here is Erykah Badu's first video, "Window Seat" for her new album New Amerykah Part II: Return of the Ankh, album drops March 30, 2010. The video was directed by Erykah Bady, Coodie and Chike and produced by the Soulquarians. You can pre-order her album on iTunes now. I love the song, I love Ms. Badu, and had no idea she was packing that much ass! From what I've heard from our favorite drummer @questlove: this video was shot in one take and only took 2 minutes to shoot. The people in Dallas (where Ms. Badu lives and where the video was shot) were so stunned they had no time to pull cameras, blackberrys/iPhones out to take a picture. As a side note the "blood" that comes out of Ms. Badu at the end of the video reads "Group Think".

NY-Z: The Jay-Z Documentary
This new short documentary (not so subtly sponsored by Absolut) delves into Jay-Z's song writing and overall musical process. It is not as deep or as detailed as it could be and definitely missies the "This Is It" mark by a long shot but nonetheless, it is always interesting to hear a little bit about a mogul's thoughts and processes. Enjoy!

Waste of 9 minutes- Gaga & Beyonce Telephone
It is unclear to me after watching this video what all the hype was about. What frightens me the most is that there is a "to be continued" at the conclusion of the video, please know I will not be posting that Part II. I think it is only fair to mention that I am neither a Lady Gaga nor a Beyonce fan to begin with, therefore, my opinion may not be objective. What do you think?

The Love & War MasterPeace-Raheem Devaughn
I know I'm a little late (forgive me I was on vacation) but the R&B Neo-Soul Hippy Rockstar his finally released his album, Love & War Masterpiece, on March 2nd. The album features 26 tracks (on the deluxe edition) and it features many other artists such as; Dr. Cornel West, Ludacris, Wale, Malik Yusef, Jill Scott, Bilal, Anthony Hamilton, Dwele and many more. I've listened to the album in its entirety and we are mostly getting a glimpse of the hippy and lover side of Raheem Devaughn especially with tracks like "Mr. Right" and "Nobody Wins a War". Raheem definitely proves that he can still write and sing but call me old school I'm still a bigger fan of The Love Experience. This album is definitely worth having in your collection: download The Love & War MasterPeace on iTunes by clicking here.

Indigo Hotel-Chelsea NYC
I recently stayed at the fairly new (opened in November 2009) Indigo Hotel in Chelsea, NYC and was pleasantly surprised. This boutique hotel is nestled between 6th & 7th avenue near FIT and Chelsea's "flower district". Although walking in this neighborhood at night seems a bit suspect, it's probably its only draw back. A MTA stop is right on the corner and this 122 room hotel is within walking distance (on a nice day) to Times Sq., Broadway, and the Chelsea Flea Market on Sundays. The room rates are reasonable which is a relative term when talking about NYC hotel room rates, on a weekend it will most likely cost you between $240-$280 per night with advanced purchase. I would venture to guess that the more popular this hotel becomes the more expensive the prices will be.
The hotel provides free wifi in each room; any hotel that does not provide this amenity is not worth a repeat visit. Instead of using the traditional card access system to the rooms, Indigo employs something reminiscent of a proximity key system. Like everything else in NYC the room itself is extremely small. The bathrooms are modern, chic but with a little twist of impracticality: the shower is only partially covered with glass, therefore, when you take a shower water ends up all over the floor no matter how careful you are. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and sitting up to watch their LCD TV's was no bother on the back. Did I mention that the hotel also has a rooftop bar? I didn't visit because it was 20 degrees outside when I visited. Nevertheless, if ever I'm in the area again for another Broadway performance I will be revisiting if the rates are still affordable.
The hotel has a rewards program that is worth looking into. Please visit their website for more information. Happy travels!

Feeding Dolphins to people without their knowledge?
Those who know me are well aware that I am far from an animal activist. I personally just think that we have so many other pressing issues we could be addressing with humans and our suffering, diseases, war, racism, and all the other -isms etc. that animal rights is really a white elitist's pet project (no pun intended). That was until I came across this documentary, that not only was brilliantly put together by passionate people but it unveiled such an unthinkable horror it made my stomach turn. People need to be made aware of this atrocity and demand something be done about it! The documentary is called The Cove and documents the secret slaughtering of dolphins in Japan and the sale of the dolphin meat to the unsuspecting Japanese population.

This Dude Tries to Pull a Lil' Mama Stunt on Jay-Z & Instead got Sonned!
Sooo I was at the Jay-Z/Trey Songz/Jeezy concert last night in Washington DC, at a close to sold out Verizon Center, when a little case of deja vu occurred. A young man got up on stage and tried to pull another Lil' Mama stunt on Jay-Z: well, needless to say Jay's bodyguard was not having it and literally plowed lil' man off the stage and literally threw him. What you cannot see in this video is that the stage was about 8 feet off the ground and lil' man landed on his upper back/shoulders and still resisted body guards on the ground. The body guards roughed him up a little bit and lil' man consequently was arrested for trespassing. It was hilarious!!! All the radio stations in the DMV area were looking for everyone and anyone who could tell them the identity of this young man. No cigar.
